[4/12/2006] Press Release: Software Connections Voted Laserfiche's VAR of the Month for April 2006

Ron Rasberry and his management team at Software Connections are constantly asking themselves, "Who are our customers and why should they buy from us?"

Last year, that customer-focused thinking prompted them to develop the Laserfiche Connector, which enables customers to route documents directly from any multifunction peripheral (MFP) or digital scanning device into Laserfiche via eCopy ScanShare OP.

The new product has been a resounding success since it was introduced last fall. The beneficiaries only start with Software Connections and its customers. Software Connections has made the Laserfiche Connector available to all Laserfiche VARs, for whom it has quickly become a new source of sales.

"eCopy is a leader in document distribution; Laserfiche is a leader in document management," Rasberry explains. "Our sister company had been marketing Canon MFPs as their core product line for years and, as a Laserfiche reseller, we sat right in the middle of the two technologies.

"We asked ourselves: Why not develop a solution that integrates Laserfiche and eCopy and give our customers what they want: the ability to scan from networked MFPs directly into their Laserfiche repository?

"The results have been wonderful. We feel that we have not only expanded our own horizons, but also have hopefully made a contribution that moves our entire industry forward."

In several recent instances, the Laserfiche Connector has been a deal-closer. "At one large commercial facility, for example, the Connector sealed the deal," he says. "The customer was already impressed with Laserfiche, especially because of its ability to auto-create folders using Quick Fields and Zone OCR. They decided to buy on the spot, however, when they learned that the Laserfiche Connector would enable them to get significantly more value from their networked MFPs."

Rasberry sees the success of the Laserfiche Connector as a harbinger of good things to come. "Hardware/software integrations are an important new trend for document management and workflow solutions," he says. "They increase in-house operational efficiencies and offer customers significant new competitive advantages."

eCopy honored Software Connections and Laserfiche recently with its 2006 Software Developer Best Practices Award, calling the Laserfiche Connector "the most innovative application that leverages the eCopy Software Developer’s Toolkit."

Based in Baton Rouge, LA, Software Connections and its sister company, Advanced Office Systems, have been serving customers throughout the south since 1981. In addition to Rasberry, who serves as president, key management staff include, founder and Chairman Paul Pokorney, Jason Johnson, vice-president/sales, and John McLain, vice-president of the Digital Services Division.
